Dear all -- I'm trying to find a way to access some Excel (macro) files (ofc
2000 or ofc 2003), which I have on a memory stick. I have a laptop with
Windows Visa/MS Works. Files are scrambled when I open with MS works. I
then downloaded a free trial of Ofc 2007 but apparently this is not
compability either ..... files are scrambled again. Is there a way I can
access these files and make changes? Not sure if Open Office might work?
Thanks in advance.

It won't cost anything to find out if OpenOffice.org would work, but I
doubt it. The macro engines are different - that is the major
incompatibility of OO as far as I know.

Try the excel viewer at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=EN

If it won't open the files, then you've proly got corrupted files.

I see you specifically mention macros... is it safe to assume these macros
are embedded in Excel 2000 or 2003 files? And that you want to open the
Excel files to modify the macros and then save the changes?
