Excel update hangs computer

All of the other updates on Tuesday installed fine, but the Excel one hangs
the process. Anyone else have this issue?

I am having a similar issue. I have Windows XP Home (no Frontpage). I got a
message that updates were ready to install, and I allowed them to proceed.
It failed to install some security update for Excel. It kept asking me to
install the disk for Windows Professional with Frontpage!!!! I don't HAVE
that! Itried putting in my Windows XP Home CDROM, but it wouldn't take that.
Now, every time I try to open an Excel file, Windows installer tries to
install the stupid Excel update and it asks me for the stupid CD ROM that I
don't have.

I am having the same problems. I have been unable to open any excel files
since I installed IE7!! The pop up asks me to insert the "Microsoft 2000
SR-1 Premium" disk?!

I'm getting really steamed that Microsoft tells me to go to this site and get
answers to my questions but no one has posted a solution to this yet. What a
joke.
