Exchange CCR cluster

I have an exchange ccr cluster. Quorum is configured as the file share
witness. Two cluster names, clusmgt.test.local (network name of the cluster
mgt end)and mailbox.test.local (exchange cluster name). When i fail the
cluster over using the exchange management tools, the name mailbox will move
over to node 2 but the cluster mgt name stays on node 1. How do you fail
this over(or do i???). If I patch the server and reboot it fails over on its
own.

thanks

You can use the cluster administrator console in 2003 (you didn't say what
version OS you are running) or you can also use the command line. The
default cluster group which has the quorum and the cluster name can run
separately. If you were to shut down the node that is hosting it, the
cluster group will failover automatically to the surviving node, but I
understand that you might want to do it manually first.

This link will give you the list of different commands that you can run at
the command prompt using the cluster.exe command line.

Good luck.

I'm using Windows 2008. For some reason...I sometimes get the exchange
server resources on one node and the quorum and management being managed by
the other node.

It is perfectly OK. Don't sweat it. In fact, it is expected to happen that
way sometimes just because they are separate cluster groups and are not
dependent on each other.
