exchange sync problem

My setup is Exchange 2003 sp2, activesync 4.5, and an ipaq 910c with
wm6.1. I am in the process of testing push email to see if it works as
well as BES for email. I think I have it working faily well, but the
problem I am having right now is that when I switch from syncing via usb
cable to wireless, I have to do a soft reset on the phone before my
messages start coming through again. Also, when I switch from wireless
to usb, I will get 'The server could not be reached. This can be caused
by temporary network conditions. Support Code:80072eff' from
activesync. But if I wait and try to sync again, it will work. Could
the problem be that my mail server has a different public address that
the phone is using to connect with when on wireless? Does anyone know
of a workaround to fix this? TIA!

Hi,
The issue is that the Exchange server has a differnet internal IP to the
external IP. So when the Windows Mobile device caches the dns lookup of the
name when you have it connected via USB, it only knows the server as it's
internal IP. To resolve this issue, only use the external IP for the host
name.

Is there a way to force the device to only use the wireless provider to
sync with the exchange server, even when connected to my pc? I can not
connect to the public ip address of the exchange server from my office
pc. Thanks!

Hi,
If you are using ActiveSync 4.5 or WMDC you can configure the settings to
allow the device to also connect to your ISP. I would suggest that you
change the connection via ActiveSync to connect to Work as well.

I am using AS 4.5 but I can't find the settings. Can you guide me thru
it please? The phone is running WM 6.1 if that makes a difference. Thanks!
