Hello,
I have been reading many articles and can not locate my error. I recently
formatted our server at the office to SBS 2003 R2 SP2 (all updates)) -
currently NO anti-virus / filters of any kind - it is just the OS completely
up to date. When I create a new user and accept all the default settings - I
can synch my WM6 phone perfectly! - I followed a great MS article about
setting up everything from top to bottom - setup my SSL etc... – my SSL is
generated inhouse.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...loy/winm5.mspx

The moment I change the users default email address (inside active directory
on the server) (I am adding a new default SMTP address) when I change the
users email address away from the default ( to
) to their actual email address the telephone
prompts me and says a new configuration has been made and all data will need
to be re-synched - this then results in an error code: 0x85010014 - when I
put the users email address back to the default - the phone synchs again
perfectly! – With the users email address changed and active sync not working
– I can still access the site through OMA on the phone. My connection to and
from Outlook is never impacted by any of the changes – only the phone. –
Again – changing the email address (within active directory) back to the
default (primary) email address that was created makes everything work again
perfectly!! – this is clearly a problem only when sending emails since the
emails get branded with the incorrect reply to address.

I have tried several different users - any changes away from the default
result in the above error message - changing it back clears up the issue. Any
new user works fine - just not when I change their primary email account

any thoughts? Thank you in advance, I greatly appreciate it!!!

Hi,

have You seen this posted by Jon A. DeNys?

http://web2.minasi.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17715

I called Microsoft and together figured out the resolution to my issue. It turns out it is directly related to the Primary email
address change that we performed on 11/30/2006.
Microsoft Case# SRX061212601631

Through testing, determined the problem is related to changing the Primary email address on a users mailbox. Per Microsoft, a GUID
is assigned to the Primary email address and is used with ActiveSync. So even if you change the Primary email address back to the
original email address, it still has a new GUID.

The resolution steps for this issue are:
1. First set the Primary email address of the users mailbox.
2. On the Mobile Device (MDA), open ActiveSync. Click Menu, Options. Select the Exchange Server config, then click Delete. This will
remove the Server Source from ActiveSync. All your email will be removed from the Mobile device, Calendar and Contacts will remain.
3. Then, Click Menu, Configure Server. Proceed with configuring your server options as you would when setting up a new user. On your
first Sync you will get an error, click Sync again and you will be prompted to accept the server policy settings, just click ok. (we
are pushing mobile device policies from the Exchange server)
4. Delete an email from your Mobile Device, then Sync. Verify that the email is removed from mailbox in Outlook.

Hope this helps someone else out there.
Thanks,
Jon A. DeNys

Regards,
Ulli

Hello,
Thank you for your reply - I am very anxious to correct this problem!! -
I have tried what you said step by step - basically update the users email
address to what I want - delete the settings from the phone - re-setup - push
sync a couple times - this unfortunelty did not correct my problem. I have
noticed that I currently have both SMTP accounts setup under my active synch
profile - and I can in fact (you indicated you could not with your problem),
but I can switch back and forth between primary and not primary (IE: the one
I want and the default) - it takes about 2 mintues for the change to be noted
on the phone and then all of a sudden it sync's right up again (or vice
versa)! - now maybe my problem has something to do with policys (I never
recall setting any up), and you inidacted I should be getting some sort of a
policy update notice (which I never did). - Also - when I deleted my account
settings (step 2) that also removed my contacts and calendar (no problem at
all - I just wanted to note differences).

Thank you so much for you reply - I am very hopefull!!!!

Hello,

just to clear it: the method after the link was a part of the (link-)thread and was posted by Jon on 12/12/2006. I found it during
research for another problem with activesync.

The policy update notice is only generated when you implement mobile device policies in Exchange System Manager.

Cheers,
Ulli
