Hello

I received an email with a red exclamation mark ! in the 1st column. I
assume the sender put it there to draw attention to it ?

Can I delete it ?

I assume I can set a ! in my reply ?

Thanks

Yep.

You can delete the email but not the exclamation mark.

You don't say what email client you're using, but more than likely the
answer is yes, the sender marked it high priority to try to draw your
attention to it. Nowadays that probably means it's spam.

>Can I delete it ?

Sure you can, just like you can delete any other email. But you can't
tell for sure whether it's treasure or trash from the high-priority
flag.

>I assume I can set a ! in my reply ?

Somewhere in your email client will be an option to set the message
high priority. Outlook has a big red exclamation point right on the
toolbar in the new message window. Other clients will have something
similar.
