My ASUS came with a C: and a D: (80GB each), I assume C: for the OS and
programs, and D: for data. What I wanted was decrease C: down to about 40 GB
and increase D: to about 120 GB. However, Vista will only let me shrink C: a
tiny bit, and even then won't let me slide it into D:. Then, I gave up with
two partitions and tried deleting D: and just using a single C: partition,
but the disk management wouldn't let me combine the two. Any suggestions?
I'd hate to pay just b/c this is a one-time use, but that may be necessary...
Thanks!

The built-in shrink utility will be able to decrease the partition size till
it bumps against the first unmovable/locked system file.

If you want to decrease the partition further you will need a 3rd party Disk
Management tool. You can use Acronis Disk Director suite. The latest posted
version (ver 10.0 build 2160) is 100% Vista compatible. After installing the
program, create the emergency CD. Reboot the computer and boot up with this
CD.
Do your partition work from there. You will not be hampered with locked
files.

OK, thanks for the response. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to just have the
software. This will only be a one-time thing, so I was trying to get around
paying, but the flexibility to do it when I want will be nice.
