For "basic" email why not use Vista's web mail client?

First, uninstall the trial version. If you want Outlook, you have to buy
it. I don't know if Outlook is sold separately from the rest of the
Office suite. Check on the Microsoft Office website. If it isn't and you
don't want to buy Office, then find a different email client that will
meet your needs. I like Thunderbird but there are plenty of other free
email clients available, just Google for them.

You can import your emails to Windows Mail, which will give you basic email
functions. Start Windows Mail and go File - Import and follow the wizard.

Outlook 2007 can be bought for well under £100.

If you qualify for academic pricing you can get the full Office 2007 suite
quite cheaply. With an edu email address Office Ultimate is £38.95
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/default.aspx

And if you, or someone else in your household has an older version of Office
or Works you may qualify for upgrade pricing. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/su...CL101732621033
and decide which of the Office programs you will use and make your decision.

If the ability to send and recieve is all you desire in a mail program, you
will be perfectly happy with Windows Mail, the mail client that comes with
Vista. It's free.

If you want to keep just Outlook, a license retails at a approx. UK £85.
Uninstall the Office suite before you install Outlook.
