Hello!

I hope you can help

I have a Vista 32 bit Home premium Gateway tower

running Vipre antivirus/anti spyware.

It caught a Exploit.PDF-JS.Gen (v) malware, that has done some ver
interesting and damaging things to my computer. It appears that th
files associated with various tasks are still there, but the virus ha
added/modified code to make it look like the files are missing

System loads fine, for either basic user or admin.
Issues
1) Cannot edit users at all when signed in as admin. (nor parenta
controls, user access
2) when attempting to launch many programs, i get the following error
a) windows defender: the system cannot find the file specifie
b) when i try to click on an executable (i.e. i just downloade
HighJacker to identify issues) i get the following type errrors: Window
cannot find C:\Users\CJ\Desktop\HJTInstall.ex

c) When I go to users account under admin, I only have the Admi
account (and I can't edit any user account controls on or off) and m
other basic user doesn't show up, even though it boots

Help! Nothing is working. where to start? Thank

Once your computer becomes infected with malware, its likely your entire operating system
is now compromised. The only effective solution is to backup your files and proceed with
a "clean install" of Windows .

NO, the only effective solution is to NUKE Windows and install Linux
Ubuntu which is virtually immune from viruses and other malware. Get it
at www.ubuntu.com

Oh, and top posting with a sig delimiter is RUDE, asshole.

At this point either get guided help at one of the specialty forums below OR
back up your data and do a clean install of Windows. It is your choice. If
you are unsure how to back up your data or how to do a clean install, you
can take your machine to a local computer professional. I don't recommend
using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of places.

Remember that when you back up your files and reinstall (as advised)
that you first may want to see if you can find out what dropped the
virus there and that it doesn't reside in disguise in something you back
up... else you may put it right back
