How do you get rid of the Windows Internet Explorer 8 pop up (upgrade
advertisement) everytime you go to the internet?

Is IE8 installed?

If so, look for:
"Problem: IE always goes to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx
instead of my homepage"
at
http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
