explorer crashes when i access control panel

please help here
control panel > click any icon > windows explorer stopped
working......restarting explorer
vista 32 bit upgrade ultimate

What have you installed on the computer prior to this happening?

this was an upgrade install
thus several drivers needed a vista install such as the sound card
all devices seem to be working well video audio scanner etc

Try doing an in-place upgrade over the existing installation and see if it
corrects some of the problems you are now experiencing.
