EXPLORER.EXE APPLICATION ERROR

Here is the problem

Explorer.exe application error
the instruction at 0x71902cc5 referenced memory at 0x71902cc5
the required data was not placed into menory because of an I/O
error status of 0xc0000185.

It then tells me to click o.k. when I do thia the computer freezes
and I need to restart manuly, can anyone help thanks.

It is now my understanging that this is an error in the vista filing system
there is no quick fix to the problem, the only way to fix this is if you keep
having the problem is to save all your files and programs to disk and do a
factory restore and just hope windows will address the problem sooner rather

i need help. i just bought a brand new computer about a week ago with
windows vista on it. i chose to restart so it could download automatic
updates. before it shut down i got this message,
"explorer.exe-Application Error" and then the message said "The
instruction at 0x02eefa40 refrenced memory at 0xffffffff. The memory
could not be read. Click ok to terminate the program." i wanted to know
if this is bad or not and whether it is or isnt bad, what i could do
about it so it doesnt happen anymore. please help!

Did you install anything?
Does vista still work? If not try running startup repair.

fixed the problem by replacing the hard drive everything is now working fine.
