explorer.exe problem. always shut down when I open the window expl

Whenever i open the window explorer for a while, I would encounter
explorer.exe problems and it will closed the window explorer. this will also
hang my other applications as well such as WinAmp, IE, etc.

I am currently still residing on Window 2000 platform. As I had always
encounter this problems, that is the reason why I update my IE5 to IE6 but I
still encounter the same problems. Now it is even worst.

What could be the possible reasons and how do I resolve this issues?

Please provide more information.

What problems? How does this hang your other programs? Is it all at the
same time?
Do you have the /DEBUG switch set in boot.ini, so that they all hang when
your computer "breaks into the debugger?" This is just a few of the
questions I have. Perhaps your problems have nothing to do with IE6 or IE5,
but instead in Windows.

Perhaps an inplace upgrade of your Windows 2000 system files would be
helpful. Here is a link:
