Explorer freeze

I had to repair windows and since then, when I go to microsoft.com or try to
update windows through Help and Support or explorer, the page freezes and I
have to close the window wwith task manager. Does anyone have any info on
this?

Sounds like an activeX component problem.
I would try monitoring the last parts before ie starts not responding. If
you like to do so, you might use filemon and regmon (freeware from
sysinternals.com)
