I have 19.1 GB of unallocated space that I want to allocate to my C
drive containing Vista. The inbuilt Disk management tool can't do this
so I am trying to use Gparted Live CD v0.3.6.7. The problem that I am
encountering is that I am getting this fatal error in Gparted which says
: No screens found. I have Palit geforce 9600GT card & 19 inch
widescreen LCD monitor with 1440 x 900 resolution. I am confident that
the CD is fine bcos I have used Gparted earlier also on my older
computer & it had worked fine. I just can't figure out why its not
working now. I have tried almost every setting in Gparted but I am still
stuck on that error.

Hi,

Sounds like there is no support in the disk for either the monitor or video
card, you'd have to contact the distributors about adding the appropriate
driver files to the disk image.

Before resizing a Vista volume with gparted, you might also want to read
this:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...sta-partition/

What is the current disk structure and location of the unallocated space in
relation to the current C: volume?

Another tool that I personally know to be able to handle Vista's
implementation of NTFS is BootIT NG which can be used from a bootable floppy
to manipulate the partitions, including sliding and expanding.

Try booting it with the VESA driver - may not look real pretty but should
get the job done.
