Hi,
Sounds like there is no support in the disk for either the monitor or video
card, you'd have to contact the distributors about adding the appropriate
driver files to the disk image.
Before resizing a Vista volume with gparted, you might also want to read

What is the current disk structure and location of the unallocated space in
relation to the current C: volume?
Another tool that I personally know to be able to handle Vista's
implementation of NTFS is BootIT NG which can be used from a bootable floppy
to manipulate the partitions, including sliding and expanding.
