I receive this message when I try to go to the computer to check the
folders and find that the windows explorer is not working, and also when I
try to download a program it will stop and show this message. I cannot go
to the computer and manage. I can't use the computer very well with this
condition. Any help will be appreciated.
I have Vista Home Premium.

Carl

Have you tried clicking on My Computer on the Start menu?

I think the "extended attributes inconsistent" error message MAY
possibly be caused by doing a hard drive letter change.

I am using Windows 7, but the same issue is also likely in Windows
Vista, so that is why I write here. Windows 7 being so new and all.

I never had the "extended attributes inconsistent" error before I
changed the RAID0 array HDD letter.

My boot drive is C:, my DVD drive was D:, My RAID0 array was E:.

I wanted my RAID0 array to become D:, so I temporarily changed my DVD
drive from D: to F: and then changed my RAID0 arrary from E: to D:.
Finally I changed my DVD drive from F: to E:

Since then Windows 7 gives me the "extended attributes inconsistent"
error intermittantly. I can't even start regedit.exe which is on the C:
boot drive that I never changed the drive letter on.

I will try changing the drive letters back to how they were tommorrow
and see if this stops this error message from occuring. If it does not
fix it, I will reload the operating system back on again. What a waste
of time! Not impressed.

The Windows 7 installation process does not pop up a question asking
you if you want to install any RAID drivers. The Windows XP installation
process does. I think this may be the issue. If the installation
process, early on, allows you to set up your RAID0 array. It makes sense
that it can assign a letter to that RAID0 array early on and not become
confused latter on when you want to change it to the next letter up from
your boot drive.

Any body else struck this issue?

I have one HDD boot drive . An RAID0 array consisting of four HDD's.
Also A DVD drive.
