Buying one more XP-license for use in the virtual PC 2007, when if
wanting to keep the original installed in windows XP-mode. After all
windows XP-mode could be useable in some instances. Anyway,
most users would not compleately uninstall it. Doing so and considering
this a full necessity would render an exstra critizimn against the
constructors
of this windows XP-mode.

Glad to hear this. But there's no clipboard function in my instalation
of XP-mode having the Integration coupled in. My install may not yet
be accomplished. In fact, in my situation windows XP-mode was intended
to be loaded with win98, as this is the most suitable operating system for
the Autocad 14 application. 14 was build for 98 I think.
If no clipboard there. Then Windows XP-mode does not fulfil its purpose.
Yet, I does not intend to uninstall it, as I'm using XPs IE6 in trial of
websites. Because ms's SuperPreView is a static picture-shower and
another mediocrity, that does not run menus having javascript in it.

OK, I have already downloaded it, but will consider VMware before
installing it. At least having a trial with VMware. There's other teasers
with XP-mode as slowness in startup.

If you happen to be an ms-employee, you should really think about
a correction to almost everything of mss software. And among getting
old good VB6 back on track. The doubtfull WPF is probably a source from
which some of the mediocrity araises from. Let VB6 come out.
A lot of people waits to buy it.

It's a wrong way to go, to limit the userbillity of the XP-mode
making a decition what best suits the user. On expense of
having a fullblowned XP-operating system.
Again, If you're a ms-employee, get it all corrected.

Yes, I did not say I didn't.

Thanks for your comment, anyway.

The licensed XP mode virtual machine runs in VMWare Workstation 7 or VMWare
Reader 3, and you can run VPC2007 at the same time.

A much better solution than WVPC in my opinion.

Depends on what you need to do, I'll take WVPC myself...

You can run VMWare on a PC with WVPC too, you just can't run VM's from
both at the same time as WVPC needs VT and VMWare uses it if it's
there and you can't turn it off. (and two apps can't use it at the
same time yet.)

Well, I don't have VT on my main workstation, so for me there is only one way to go.

I guess I'm just comfortable using Workstation and VPC2007, because that's what
I was doing on XP. Upgrade to Workstation 7 (or free Reader 3) and licensed
XP-mode comes for free.

You wont always have that machine. <g>

There's nothing wrong with VPC2007/VMWare combo, I just like the
scripting and XPMode (the real one with seamless apps, not just the VM
of the same name) that WVPC brings to the table. I use WVPC for
almost everything, but for the odd thing out, I use VMWare WS too...

Depends on when you bought it -- I had to pay for the upgrade to 7
from 6.5...

This isn't an issue with recent VMWare Workstation releases, it
automatically detects WVPC and switches off VT when appropriate.

I can't see the point of VMWare Workstation and VPC2007 at the same
time. VMWare does everything VPC and WVPC does and more except for
Unity mode which is painfully slow on VMWare vs WVPC in "Application
Virtualization" mode.

Cool! I hadn't noticed, I did all my combined VMWare/WVPC testing with
WS6.5. That will certainly come in handy.

Does XP-mode really come for free even if not used in WVPC?
I thought that it was free in order to enable Win7 users who have apps
tha won't run on Win7 to still use them by running then in XP-mode.
Instead of fixing up Win7 to run these apps Microsoft offered a free
XP-bubble to run them in.

But is it really legal to download that XP virtual machine and then
run it inside VMWare Workstation7 or Player3??

Microsoft did not give out XP-mode for free in order to cover Win98
usage. It was strictly done in order not to orphan the customer usage
of XP apps that were not going to run on Win7....
