Forgive me, I am ever the layman with computers.
I have a pair of hp speakers, which worked fine, until for whatever reason, I unplugged them from the green jack in the back of my pc. Then they didn't work again after that. Sound will only come from the internal speakers of my monitor. It's not the speakers, because I use my tv as a second monitor, and the sound doesn't work from it anymore either. I have also tried a third pair of speakers to make doubly sure.
I went to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound and clicked on speakers. I figured I would disable the speakers, and then enable them again. Instead, I disabled them, and the entire "speakers" icon permanently disappeared, and did not return after a reboot, or even a system restore. I also reinstalled the "Realtek High Definition Audio" driver, which did nothing.
Please help me, this is very frustrating, because the speakers in the monitor suck, and much of my pc use revolves around audio.
