External Hard drive not visible after virus scan

Hello!

I've been struggle get access to an external hard drive on my XP desktop and Vista laptop. I scanned the external hard drive deleting or/and quarantined a couple of files. I couldn't open the external hard drive the next day. The light is on and it's buzzing but there is no hdd drive on My Computer... The Device Manager's disk drivers disply just one hdd (local). Scan for hardware changes didn't work.

How can I access to the external harddrive? Must be something to do with autorun file.
