external HDD wont install on desktop

i have an external HDD that will not instill on desktop computer but runs
just fine on lap top. it is telling me that it cant find the drivers for
this thing any help would be appreciated. any help please tell me at

Please post this issue to a newsgroup that is intended for the OS
installed on your Desktop. This newsgroup deals with issues with Windows
