Hi,

I tried updating the service pack 2 for the whole entire weekends and it
seems that it will just have error no matter what.

The error msg that i get is "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install
the following update with error 0x800706be: Windows XP Service Pack 2.".
Anyone have any idea out there on how to fix this ? It had been a frustrating
weekend for me.

Thanks in advance for help

Unless you get a solid reply, had you thought of downloading to disk, then
install disconnected from the net with antivirus etc disabled.
OR
get the free SP2 disk - install the same as above.

Hi antioch,

Thanks for the advice, but 've tried downloading the whole thing and
disconnect myself from the net to do the installation but I'm still stuck.

Any more advice ? I'm going to go crazy figuring this out.

Cheers.

Hi Simon
Well, no there seems to be nothing else that I have spotted in this group.
However I have found a link with other reports similar to yours - I could
not find it last night - so it means a bit of reading - good luck.
Do come back if you sort the problem.
