i have implemented a windows server 2008 r2 fileserver cluster over 2 nodes, i am using SAN device whcih based on ISCSI connectivity.
when i move the resourses to the second node, it happened fast, but if i move the resourses to the first node, it is taking a lot of time ( it is moving the resoursec at the end but it is taking too much time).
the same thing happens when i enable FAILBACK.
please advice?
thanks

Hi Housam,

Did you had monitored (perfmon, taskmgr) the network utilization of ISCSI
NICs during the "slow" failover ? anything unsual ? You should create a
logfile from the cluster from both nodes to check if there is anything
pointing (ERR) to something - "cluster log /gen"
http://blogs.msdn.com/clustering/arc...4/8962934.aspx

How does looks your validation report - no issues ?

Regards
Ramazan

May be you have a single NIC on both nodes...
If so, what happens when you disconnect the net
cable from the active node?
Does the cluster activate the passive node correctly?

Looking at the group during the failover, where is most of the time spent?
Offline Pending or Online Pending?

Resources shut down and re-start in order of dependencies. Which resource(s)
are taking the most time to offline/online?
