Dear Friends,
My Laptop has the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate on it and, as a part of that OS, I have the <Widows Fax and Scan> utility.
I tried using it with the following settings.
Using the usual phone line cable, I connected the Laptop to a phone-jack in the baseboard of my home.
I enabled the modem in the <Device Manager>.
I bring up <Windows Fax and Scan>.
I click on <New Fax>.
In the <Menu Bar> I click on <Insert> and <File Attachment...>.
I then select the document (that has been previously scanned and saved to the desktop as a .tif file) and it appears in the <Attach:> box of the <New Fax> window.
I leave the <Cover Page:> and <Dialing rule:> boxes with <(None)> in them.
In the <To:> box I put the fax number to receive the fax and click <Send>.
When the send process is completed I receive the message that the fax has been sent successfully and I close out.
The problem is that the fax machine receiving what I sent received a black rectangle; nothing legible.
Any ideas as to what I did wrong?
Regards to all from,
John Owens
