Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 SP1 & .NET framework 3.5 family update
(KB951847) x 86 has failed everytime that its updated for the past month.
I've gotten error code 800B0100 and followed the Windows Update Error
instructions. At one point I thought it was installed, but still shows
"failed". I am running a Windows Vista 32-bit version and have never
encountered a problem with any automatic updates until now. My system will
run slow, but I have no viruses. Using Norton Internet Security and that is
running well. I've spoken with my Geek Squad and we've done system restores,
etc. and this update still fails!!! Any suggestions? directions? will be
greatly appreciated.

Have you run this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for
Windows Server 2008, and for Windows 7

This article describes the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows
Vista-based computers, for Windows Server 2008-based computers, for Windows
Server 2008 R2-based computers, and for Windows 7-based computers. Microsoft
released the System Update Readiness Tool to resolve certain conditions that
could cause installing updates and other software not to work. You do not
have to manually run this tool. This tool is offered automatically through
Windows Update to computers that have a condition that the tool could resolve.

I have exactly the same problem as Suzi: Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 SP1 &
..NET framework 3.5 family update (KB951847) x 86 has failed everytime that
its updated since late June. I tried your System Update Readiness Tool
below, successfully installed & scanned, then restarted. I downloaded
KB951847 and installed successfully using the 'Open' button. Update log
showed it installed but was pending. Upon restart Vista runs a three step
reconfigure before login. On step three it said the install failed to
install successfully, so it reverted back to old version. Looking at the
update log it now shows it failed again. I'm baffled. I'm pretty sure I
need this file (it's in my program list now and has updated as of last
March).
I'm baffled. HELP!!!
