Everytime I try to shut Windows XP down I get an advice indicating there are
update to install. I allow them to be installed. Thge next time I shutdown
they are there again.

Thanks ...

The problem started with the automatic downloads. When I try to shutdown
the computer an option to load an up date is indicated and it does not seem
happen as the thing is there when I log off the next time.

I think the update is Update for Outlook Junk Email Filter 2003 (KB943552)

I went to the Windows Update web page and ran the express search and it gave
up Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Neither of these installs when I try to install them.

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot, AVG
Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before attempting
to install the update(s).

1. See the "Need more help? Tell us what problem you are having" section of
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=ph;en-us;6527

2. You cannot install some updates or programs

3a. Check Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) for errors
associated with the download/install.
