Failed installation of Windows Service Pack 2

Help! I am tring to install Windows Service Pack 2 update. Keep getting Error
Code 0x80246002. What does this mean and what do I need to do to fix. Please
know I am not very compter literate so keep it simple. Thanks!

This may be a WGA issue, as the same codes show up with WGA downloads.

Turn off your anti-virus.

and if that doesnt work, turn off your firewall too.

I'm having this same issue, except I have no firewall or antivirus or
anything running when I receive the error. I've renamed the
SoftwareDistribution folder and reinitiated Windows update, but still get the
error.

The file digest did not match the expected value

Either download the entire SP2 package from here:

Or, order the CD. It's free, you pay the postage, though:

There are 2 logs to check for install failures :
setupapi.log
Svcpack.log

Both can be found in the %windir% (WINDOWS directory[folder])
