I have tried several times to install the following updates, but each time
they fail. I have tried several different things that the microsoft website
suggests in order to remedy the problem but nothing works and i am becoming
very frustrated. I am unable to access the network at my school without these
updates and this is going to become a major problem unless i can fix the
issues within the week. The updates are:

Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB951548)
Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 (KB948988)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB955434)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB945185)
Security Update for Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (KB943973)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (KB945432)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB947355)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 (KB950213)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB954464)
Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (KB953432)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you,
Steven

None of those updates affect your ability to access your school's network,
Steve.

Insert your Office 2003 CD into the appropriate drive bay before attempting
to install those updates.

Err, what if the network uses NAP or, some 3rd party compliance
software, Steve's system isn't up to snuff, and is therefore denied
network access ?

If NAP can't 'bring the client back into compliance' because the updates
fail to install ... does it call

" 1-866-PCSAFETY in the United States and Canada or by contacting your
local Microsoft subsidiary. For more information about how to contact
your local Microsoft subsidiary for support issues with security
updates, visit the Microsoft International Support Web site:

Any error codes? What have you already tried?
Any other information you can provide?

FYI -
How to troubleshoot failures updating your Office installation from the
Office Update Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304498

You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office
2003 by using Software Update Services
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903772

Hi everyone the reason you are failing on these updates is because your
office source engine is not started

FIX:

click on start
click on run
type in services.msc hit enter
scroll down to office source engine
double click on it
change start up type to automatic click apply then click start
click ok
close all windows
run the update again and now it will work

Hope This Helps Every one

Thanks

Mikenike

Since the first post in this thread showed these updates failed to install

you're Fix is not applicable. Then again, since your newsreader is a
browser rather than an NNTP news reader

it figures that you never read nor saw the original post that was made
in JULY !
