When I use windows update, it looks normal checks my system, downloads and
installs problem is that every time I go again it just repeats the same
updates.
I have had some problems with the installer can't seem to update to 3.1.

finally I just use microsoft update but there has to be a fix? I'm getting
desperate

diemaker,

IF Windows Installer 3.1 is not installed properly then I highly doubt
Microsoft Update is installing updates either.

WHICH updates are repeatedly being downloaded installed from Windows
Update, please ?

Same here. Updates successfully (it says), but then the same update appears
the next day. Been going on for weeks but nothing being heard from
Microsoft!! You have to pay them, it appears, to get anywhere! AGH!!!!! I
think I will try turning off auto update. Maybe? I update regularly
(hopefully not every day).

WHICH update ? Please provide it's KB number and the edition of Windows
the system is running in order for someone to be able to assist you.
If it's a Security update -

" For home users, no-charge support is available by calling
1-866-PCSAFETY in the United States and Canada or by contacting your
local Microsoft subsidiary. For more information about how to contact
your local Microsoft subsidiary for support issues with security
updates, visit the Microsoft International Support Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/common/....aspx?rdpath=4

North American customers can also obtain instant access to unlimited
no-charge e-mail support or to unlimited individual chat support by
visiting the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?&prid=7552 "

It was KB967715 for Windows XP Media Edition. I did it again since my
previous post. It gave me a "successful", as it sometimes does. Not received
another yet. Usually I get at least one a day. Sometimes failing, sometimes
not.
