Failed updates after re-installing windows xp

after re-installing windows xp the security updates will download but will
not install.after scanning with my anti virus(trend micro pc-cillin internet
security 2007)it picks up 97 microsoft vulnerabilities.but they will not
install.tried turning off firewalls and anti virus but no joy.any help on
this would be appreciated.

Please go to Start > Run > copy and paste the below into the Open: line

regsvr32 wups2.dll
Click OK or press Enter

Did that resolve the issue ?
If not, copy and paste the last 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log
into your reply:
Start > Run > type in

%windir%\windowsupdate.log
Click OK

I had this same issue. Typing regsvr32 wups2.dll, and then re-downloading and
installing the updates worked. Thank you!

This solved my problems to. Just annoyed i didn't look for help a couple of
hours ago.
