I am unable to add certain hardware and software because my computer insists
I don't have current updates. So, I go to Microsoft updates online and
download the updates it says I'm missing after scanning my computer. I click
to install updates. I get the following message (but no error codes)
cannot update or install the following:
Update for Windows XP (kb942840)
CUmulative Security Updates fo Int Expl 6 for Win XP (kb944533)
..NET Framework 1 Service Pack 1 failed
..NET Framework 2 Service Pack 2 failed (kb110806)

I've tried totroubleshoot, I really don't understand what's going on...can
someone please help???!!!!!

Have you disabled Automatic Updates for some reason, Christina?

===================================

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot Tea Timer,
AVG Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before
attempting to install the update(s). If you disable the third-party
firewall, make certain that you enable the Windows Firewall!

3a. Check Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) for errors

What third-party firewall is installed?

The Windows Firewall can be configured via Control Panel | Windows Firewall
or Security Center.
