Article ID: 908673 discusses a hotfix that will address my problem of a failed
write message to an external USB drive attached via a 4 port powered USB
hub. My problem is I do not know how to download the hotfix to update
Window XP Home.
Help!!!!

Under the section "Hotfix Information":
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs,
visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Microsoft turns me back to Dell or wants to charge me for support which
is not acceptable since this is a Windows problem. Catch 22.

908673 is an old patch and has been superceded by 925528 which you can
download directly from:
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925528>

No, you must not install Vista updates on XP. It looks like you are out of
luck until this patch becomes more widely available.
