Faileed install of update

This has been occurring for the past week. I cannot install these updates.
Any help?

Hi

In your windows folder, please look for the following log file and
see if it gives any clue to why the installations fails:

KB834707.log


You might have a incomplete SP2 installation.

In the KB article

Shlwapi.dll" error message after you install the MS04-038 security update"

If one of the two methods to check the SP2 installation indicates that
it is incomplete, you should uninstall SP2 and then install SP2 again
(that is also described in the KB article above).

I get the same messages as Goomba. I followed the procedure to check and see
if my SP2 installation is complete. Indeed SP2 is complete on my machine, so
it says. I explored the uninstall alternative but I hesitate as it says that
if I unsintall SP2, it may interfere with a number of programs. None of the
other isssues mentioned in KB888162 apply to me. Is there another KB that
adresses the specific problem mentioned in Goomba's original message?
