Failure to install all updates

I have Windows XP Pro Operating System. When the automatic upadate icon
appears, i try to update. It appears that some updating is done but there
are 7 other updates that are not installed. It tells me I have to install
Office SP Service Pak 3 separately. I follow the directions to get to the
download but the directions are not very clear to me. Can anyone help?

Insert your Office 2003 CD into the appropriate drive bay before attempting
to install the (Office) updates.

I'm having the same problems with Security updates and I all so have the
seven downloads that show up ?
