Failure to install updates windows vista error8000FFFF

Several updates were available to install but two kb950124 and kb955020
would not install after several attempts. All help is welcomed

See if this applies to the issue, Chuck -

You receive error code 8000FFFF when you click "Check for Updates" in
the Windows Update Control Panel item on a Windows Vista-based computer

If not, try downloading the updates manually and *save* them:
[Using Internet Explorer]

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/...spx?q=KB950124

Choose the *specific* update intended for the version of Vista
installed. [The 32 bit version will be listed as Update for Windows
Vista. The Overview page will show for Architecture: x86]

When the downloads have completed, close all open browers and programs.
*Right* click each download and choose 'Run as administrator'
Follow the prompts
ONLY do one at a time with a reboot in between followed by another reboot.

Did that get them installed ?

Can you verify that the Network Service account has read access to the root
of the system drive (C:\)?
I have had several of these cases lately and just now found that this was
the problem.
