Looks like there is a new worm/virus that affects the startup files of WinXP.
I have helped my parents be up-to-date with security updates through windows,
but looks like there is one that has been over looked, and the Norton didn't
detect.

The problem is, when WinXP finishs booting up, into the Login window. You
are asked to select a name (if multiple users) when clicking on mine or
anyone elses icon, windows loads to your desktop, but for that one second it
auto logs you off back into the Login window. I have tried loading through
safe mode, and also tried using the last known good configuration. Yet
nothing works. Seems like I am going to have to reformat the computer.

We just recently got our DSL, and my father is BIG surfer. Though I am not
always with him to see what exactly went wrong, I am unsure if this is
something he may have downloaded, or it came through our DSL line (hacked). I
have made sure the firewall, dealing with the modem, and through XP are fully
functional.

As for the people of Microsoft, if there is anyway that I can help you
resolve this problem, if you have yet to see this problem.
