Failure to Quickly Recognize FAT32 SD Media Chips on USB Readers

When I plug in a USB media reader to read 4 or 8 GB SDHC media chips, it
takes about 5 minutes before the removable hard drive is recognized.
This is happening with 2 different brands of chips using 2 different
brands of USB media readers. Using the same readers with FAT formatted
SD chips they are recognized immediately.

This same symptom is happening on two other W/XP computers as well as my
Vista computer.

Does anyone else have this problem? Better yet, is there a fix?

Roger
