Failure to sync on 2nd and subsequent connections via USB

This problem is driving me crazy. I can connect my WM5 PDA/Phone once and
sync successfully once but if I disconnect from USB and later reconnect it
will fail to sync everytime. I then disconnect from USB, turn off the PDA
(full off, not sleep mode), restart it, connect the USB and then it will
successfully sync again one time. Actually it will continue to sync as long
as I don't disconnect the USB.

The following are the last entries in the WCESMgr.log file associated with
the sync failure:

03/02/2006 18:57:42.734 **** Starting synchronization engine
03/02/2006 18:58:43.578 Scanning desktop SSP for 'Favorite'
03/02/2006 18:58:43.578 Done scanning 'Favorite' [0 creates, 0 modifys, 0
deletes]
03/02/2006 18:59:43.781 Scanning desktop SSP for 'Ink'
03/02/2006 18:59:43.781 Done scanning 'Ink' [0 creates, 0 modifys, 0
deletes]
03/02/2006 19:00:43.781 Scanning desktop SSP for 'File'
03/02/2006 19:00:43.781 Done scanning 'File' [0 creates, 0 modifys, 0
deletes]
03/02/2006 19:05:43.781 ERROR: Connection to ActiveSync on the device
failed. Error: 0x80145001 Socket Error: 0x274A
03/02/2006 19:05:43.781 ERROR returned in function CCeComm::Connect. hr:
0x80145001
03/02/2006 19:05:43.781 ERROR: returned 0x80145001

Any idea what this is trying to tell me???????????
