I am periodically getting fake messages from at least one contact. They
always have a message and link to a website.

I received this one at 10:56 am 01/27.

CONTACTSNAME says:
hey CONTACTS USER NAME happy valentines's day! this site is giving out free
giftcards go get one before they're all gone http://myusername.zuptag.com

It shows it coming FROM my friend, yet it say Hey to HER and the fake link
uses MY user name.

I have run various scans and my computer comes up clean. What is going on
and how do I make it stop??

Greetings,

It is your contact who has the virus/worm and they who needs to remove it in most cases.
I've heard stories of perhaps one existing locally and sending you messages, but never seen
any sort of reference or proof of that, so I'm leery that those even exist given how
Messenger works.

Change your Windows Live ID password at login.live.com, then, delete all junk
mails you've received, use an antivirus software (i sugest Antivir, from
Avira) and Windows Defender to clean the computer.
