If you have XP you can set up outlook express to read these newsgroups
much better, with Vista the mail client should do it, or you can use
something like "Thunderbird" on either system and Linux as well. You can
then block anyone you want.

Any of you guys not taking note of the idiots and I think the more san
members know who they are that are continiously bickering about XP v
Vista. It's like a school playground and wasting bandwidth etc

I came into this forum thinking it's nicely laid out and has lots o
info for newcomers to Vista, now I'm thinking of moving on because eac
time I login to the forum I have to download these idiots rants an
diatribe. I don't have a problem with their preference of XP ove
Vista... but page after page, is it really neccessary ? Even if the
were clever enough to snip out some of the previous posters messag
which scrolls way down the page before you actually see the message
more bandwith being wasted

The forum is about Vista I believe and if tey don't like Vista then wh
dont they just leave, there are plenty of other forums around dedicate
to XP

About time warnings were sent out to the trolls before thet ruin
perfectly good forum. Unfortunately the Ignore Members list in the Use
CP does'nt work cos theres a problem with the member database.
Any chance of getting it fixed so we can use it

This forum that you are using has no control of what goes on here, as all
the posts come from and go to a newsgroup called
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general.

Most people here are accessing this group through a newsreader, and as a
newsgroup.

This is an unmoderated newsgroup, not a forum. Since you are using the
web interface, you may not realize that this is really a newsgroup. You
will get far more out of this resource if you learn to use a newsreader.
There are many good newsreaders for Windows, but you can use Outlook
Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) since you already have it. Here are
some links to information about newsgroups:

He's not using the Microsoft website web-interface, as he does not have the
right email address for that. There are lots of other forums that are
connected to this newsgroup, like the one at Lockergnome.

You're right - he's using one of those parasitic "forums" that just
slurps Usenet groups. Even worse than the Microsoft web access. So my
suggestion to him that he use a real newsreader stands.

I'm with you on this one. Like yourself, I see much of what is posted here
as a waste of my bandwidth, though what I find useful still outweighs the
remainder so am not yet inclined to pull the pin. There are a very large
majority of helpful posters (and to these I give my thanks for the help that
has been provided to me, whether directly or indirectly), overridden by that
very small minority who prefer a slanging match to performing any worthwhile
service to the community and inundate the newsgroup with pathetic innuendo
and paltry vituperation. Yes, as another poster said, this is unmoderated.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, except for the sad point that in this
newsgroup it means that the greater majority of helpful people are having
their good effort undermined by the preponderous volume of utter garbage
tossed in here by the very few.

And no, I do not expect that posts such as your own, or those similar that
others have made (myself included) will make any difference. The cretins
will remain cretins and continue to bombard the remainder with their
imbecility. The only answer I have is that I refuse now to read any posts by
certain posters (everyone knows who they are without needing to mention
names, so they can flame me all they wish, I won't see it and I don't care).
Perhaps they will eventually cease to get their petty kicks here and leave
to find another bullies sandpit where they can play their childish games.
