FATAL: UpdateClientWorker failed: error 0x80070005

I've been having trouble getting Windows Update to work at all on one of my
W2K SP4 machines. As a troubleshooting attempt, I did a manual installation
of the Windows Update controls as per the instructions at the Windows Update
Troubleshooter site (http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/)
and now when I go to Windows Update, it checks my version of the software
and indicates I need a new version. I click on "Install Now" and the
message "Windows Update is downloading and installing the updated software"
appears, but nothing happens. No download pop up, progression bar, nothing.
Below are my log entries for this morning's attempt.

I've been playing with this stupid thing for hours, so if anyone can help it
would be REALLY appreciated.

Why have you disabled Automatic Updates? You might get more clues
about your problem by enabling it, e.g. in full prompt mode so you still have
control over both downloads and installs. In fact, if you were lucky, doing so
might even avoid the problem, since the update to the software would
happen automatically even when prompting is specified. In any case
I find being notified of updates much easier than having to continually
check on them manually.

I think you should try a manual update of the new agent and make sure that this
discrepancy is corrected before retrying. I'm not sure where you should go
for a manual download for your OS. I think it is the same link that I have
seen Torgeir suggest in conjunction with the optional /wuforce switch.
Search his posts using that switch as a keyword for more information about
that download. I can confirm that that download, if it is applicable for your OS,
would give you iuengine.dll version 5.8.0.2469, which for some reason
you don't have and apparently can't get installed.
