Faulure to update MS patches ..

Hello,
I restored my PC to Dell Factory Default settings recently ( it was 2
years old and performed very slow ). Re-imaging OS was without problem.
After reboot system worked fine.
Then I ran MS Update and it offered my to install 67 MS patches. I
installed all and didn't hit any problem.
The problems started after reboot. First it gave me a few error
messages ... something about EULALancher.exe can't start and something
else. Then I tried to start either Control Panel or MS Console but it
caused another error i.e. Windows Explorer stopped working ... then it
restarted and all my Desktop got refreshed.
Well it looks that MS Patches did something to my PC.
Any ideas what should I do? I can't live without MS patches but on the
other hand I can't run my PC with all those patches .. May be someone
hit the same problem and have some ideas?
