favorites sort always back to alphabetical order. WHY?

Hi,

I have sorted my favorites in the order I prefer. This remains a while
(sometimes 1 month, sometimes only 1 day), then, out of a sudden all
favorites are sorted back in the "old" order, that means alphabetically.

I have NOT configured IE to sort them in alphabetical order.

So, I wonder, how can I tell IE that he can NOT sort my favorites?

More significantly I suspect, have you been changing them,
e.g. by adding new entries to the Favorites root directory?
How many are there there and how big are they?

Hint: in the registry go here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Favorites

Open the Order value and scroll to the bottom. E.g. press Ctrl-End.
What is the offset at the bottom?

As an experiment try setting up your preferred order
and then *not* changing it.
