My favorites list in Vista 64 keeps getting alphabetized at some point when I
get them arranged in an order I like. I don't have this issue with IE 7 in
XP.

I hope someone has an idea on this because I can't seem to find any
information about this issue when searching around.

Thanks in advanced for any ideas.

Give this a try, go to C:\Users\Account_Name\Favorites

Right click > Sort By > uncheck 'Name'.

I guess I'm being thick maybe. I navigated to the Favorites
folder(C:\Users\My_Name\Favorites) and right clicked the folder and had no
'sort by' choice to uncheck 'Name'. I'm not understanding what else I should
be seeing.

Thanks for responding.

Open the Favorites folder, right-click on a blank area in the right pane...
You should get a menu with
View
Sort by
Group by
Stack by
etc.

That does give me a list of choices as you say but no uncheck 'name' is
listed. If you click 'name' it rearranges the links and folders but it
doesn't deselect anything to keep somethingh from happening.

Vista is becoming more of a disappointment the more I use it. The start menu
is a major step back. Why anyone thought the way the start menu is now is
better than the way XP works is beyond me. Scrolling through a menu is not
better than a FULL menu expanding to the right.

This issue with the favorites is messed up. You can't drag and drop new
favorites into favorites folders anymore like you can in XP by just hovering
over the folder you want to drop a link in, like you can in XP. When you
arrange the favorites in XP they stay where you drag and drop them and in the
order you drop them in. Backwards is what MS has done with Vista. Security
may be better in some ways but the rest is just an aggrevation. I looks like
the concern to put out something different only made them go backwards.

The article of 'Upgrading to XP' is very true. Unfortunately this notebook
came with Vista and I can't go back to a much better OS. I bet if MS allowed
users to D/L a copy of XP to replace Vista, most would do it. Fancy graphics
don't make up for lost funtionality. Those that purchased a new PC that came
with Vista have been taken advantage of. I don't mind change at all, but
only it needs to be positive change.

I appreciate the attempt with the posts, but they don't help. I have SP1
installed so I'm guessing these issues won't be changed in that SP.
