Favourites Problem in Vista IE

Hi, Ive a new pc with Vista, but when i click Favourites it says it cant find
the folder and so nothing is displayed.
It tries to find bootmark.htm, which does not appear in my My Docs. I think
this is because of some screw-up when using Easy Transfer to transfer Docs
from an XP laptop. I fear some Settings accidentally got transfered too
This messed up locating my Outlook pst as well. I was able to fix that with
System Restore but Favourites have not recovered so well, presumably because
SR doesnt alter folder changes? Has any helpful person got an idea how to fix
this? There is a folder in My Docs called Favourites and ive tried renaming
it to Bookmark.htm but to no avail. There are saved Favourites in the folder
marked Favourites. Appreciate any assistance. L

Hi lindzog,

if you right click favourite icon on the right side of the start menu
and choose properties you use the location tab to set the location of
your Favorites folder to the folders in your documents folder.

This should work as a temporary solution, if it stops your startup
error you can then go back into the properties and reset the location
and the system should create a fiolder in the correct location and move
the files there.

If you do not see the favourites item on the start menu you an set it
to display using right click on start orb - properties - start menu -
advanced then scroll down the list and tick the favourites option.

If you have a favourites folder in your user folder you can also right
click on this to change the location

sounds more complex than it is but hope it helps

thank you for the reply. do you happen to know whether in Vista the relevant
folder in My Docs should be called bookmark or favourites. The organise
wizard on vista suggests it should be called bookmark. Ill have a look at
your suggestion as soon as I get back to the desktop. ill post back if i get
it sorted.
