Fax fatal errors - Window Vista Bus SP1 and before SP1 until I reb

I cannot understand why I am seldom able to send a fax from Windows Vista
Business (both before and after SP1) until I reboot, no matter how short a
time I have been using other applications.

The fax software refuses to get a dial tone and so indicates fast retries
followed by the message "Fatal Error."

Then, I check the device manager-modem and find all ok. I check FAX
settings and see no problems. I check FAX Accounts and see that the modem is
connected.

So then I reboot and immediately and now I can send a FAX without problem.

Please help me to understand what is happening----Thanks.

State what other TAPI applications are running on your partition.
Confirm that your analog fax modem is on the VHCL.

Dear Russ Valentine:

1. This is the only "TAPI" application that I have, other than as a backup,
seldom used, for my
DSL service.
2. I have no idea what you mean by "VHCL." I do not find any explanation
of it on Google nor in
Techweb's TechEncyclopedia. Perhaps, you will be kind enough to
explain your question. I
am axious to find an answer to my basic question. Sincerely.

VHCL (Vista Hardware Compatibility List)
I personally haven't came across the problem you are having. However, if
anyone can come upwith an answer it will be Russ.
Good luck.

So you are trying to fax over a DSL line? How did you make it compatible
with an analog fax modem?

So I don't try to fax on a DSL Line; I fax with an analog fax modem on an
analog standard phone line.
