I installed automatic updates today on my Windows XP SP2 box and now I can't
get to the Windows Update page in Internet Explorer as I get an error saying
Mac machines can't access the Windows Update website.

I have tried uninstalling the updates again but only three are listed in my
Add/Remove Programs applet.

Anyone got any idea how to fix this?

Cheers

operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/." I'm running
XP - sp2 and never had a problem before today...? Can anyone comfirm if its

Thanks I have already checked that.

I am getting the IE reporting the User agent field as:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0)

I am running MSIE 7.0 on Windows NT 5.1 and have set up the registry fields
correctly.

However IE doesn't reflect the change to platform even after setting the
fields correctly in the registry and the system is rebooted.

Thanks

Carol

Solved the problem.

Check http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817144

I used the registry method (4) to delete the user agent info from the
registry and that seems to have fixed it!

Cheers
