File association problem

I'm running Vista Home Premium. I have Sarmsoft Resume Builder installed.
Until recently, my resume files, with an .rb4 extension, were associated
with the program and displayed the program's icon in Explorer. They've
somehow become associated with Adobe Acrobat, and Vista flat out refuses to
allow me to correct this. The parent program doesn't appear as an option in
Control Panel for associating files, and after I browse to the program
location and select the appropriate EXE file, the association still stays
Adobe Acrobat.

Any suggestions?

Try using System Restore back to a date prior to the problem.

Tony,

I'd prefer to avoid using System Restore for this particular problem since
I'm not sure when it actually started and I may undo so much stuff as to
make it more trouble than it's worth. The Resume Builder itself still works
fine, it's just the file association I'm having problems with.

Uninstall Acrobat, check the file association. If you still can't correct it
uninstall the resume software and reinstall it. Reinstall a current version
of Acrobat and monitor which file extensions it associates itself with,
assuming that is selectable during install.

The program isn't listed, so the approach you suggest is what I've tried
several times. R-Click, Open With, Browse, etc.

It doesn't take for whatever evil reason. I can change from Adobe to just
about anything listed, none of which is correct, but if I browse to
something not on the list, the OK option is grayed out.

I was hoping to avoid that hassle. With XP, and every other version of
Windows I've used over the years, I could associate a file with any
executable I wanted. As usual, Vista is being uncooperative.
