Hello,

I installed a bunch of programs and now my file associations are messed up,
specifically the .zip extension. Can somebody help me fix the .zip, or
preferably totally reset the defaults? I tried linking to zipfldr.dll and it
says that it isn't a valid application.

Thanks!

For just reassigning the ZIP extension:

To get ZIP back in Windows Vista, click Start, All Programs,
Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
Click through the User Account Control folderol. When the command prompt
comes up, type:

assoc .zip=CompressedFolder

and then press Enter. Vista gurgles for a second or two, and when it
comes back, your ZIPS should be restored to life.

This page contains the file association fixes for some of the most common file types. The fixes
are applicable for Windows® Vista systems only.

Hey, good link there Michael! And I'm not surprised to see that it is
Ramesh who has some fixes available for this problem, too. What a guy!
