File folders crash after using Windows Easy Transfer

Here's a bizarre situation:

Ever since I used WET to transfer files from my old XP system to my new
computer with Vista, I can no longer open or save files. This is now a
problem with any program that I use. For instance, if I try to save a file
using Windows Internet Explorer, the whole program shuts down as soon as the
file desitnation path menu tries to pop up. Or if I try to attach a file to
an email, Outlook shuts down once the file menu is supposed to come up to
allow me to select the file.

In an interesting twist, this problem didn't occur with my wife's user
account. The WET on her account was flawless.

Any suggestions anyone?!?
