Raj,
Can you briefly itemize where are the files & what are their functions
regarding data & sync for my Pocket PC using Active Sync?
Assuming I'm in the "Carl" profile directory of "Documents and Settings"...
I see files in:
1. \carl\Application Data\microsoft\outlook
2. \carl\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{817....}\microsoft\Outllok Express
3. \carl\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

#1 has default outllok profile.srs & FAV, etc.
#2 has inbox, drafts, outbox, sent items, etc.
#3 has extend.dat, outlook1.pst (large data file)

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,

I am sorry, but I didn't understand your first question. Could you be a
little more specific about the information you are looking for.

Here is a little information about the locations you have mentioned --

1. \carl\Application Data\microsoft\outlook

This directory would contain files related to Microsoft Outlook settings,
Outlook VBA project files, etc... The .srs files contain the settings for
Send and Receive groups. The files here have nothing to do with ActiveSync.

2. \carl\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{817....}\microsoft\Outllok Express

This is the location of your folders for Outlook Express (not the same as
Microsoft Outlook). If you are using Outlook Express, then you will find
folder names with .dbx extensions. This has nothing to do with ActiveSync
since Outlook Express is not supported by ActiveSync.

3. \carl\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

This is default location where Outlook stores the .pst file. The file that
contains the personal information. This is the file that Outlook
opens/edits whenever information is created/written/updated/deleted in
Outlook. As you are aware ActiveSync synchronizes with Outlook so this file
plays the most important role with respect to storage of data.

The extend.dat file contains information about the add-ins currently
installed in Outlook.

I hope I have answered your query !!

Regards,
Raj
